Abstract :
Torghabeh gold mine is located 8 Km western of Mashhad, in the ophiolite complex of Mashhad. Geology of the mine area consists of metagraywacke (devonian-permian), Biotite Granidiorite-Tonalite (triassic) and contact metamorphosed rocks and Quartz veins. Structural deformations have occurred in different times. There are three breccia zones in this area which have cut the plutons and metamorphosed rocks. These zones are NW-SE and their dip is about 80 degree to north – east. The breccia zones have more than 1400 meters length and 2 to 6 meters wide. These zones are located between metasediment and pluton and its main host rock is granodiorite.
Brecciation has occurred after regional metamorphism and occurrence of acidic mass. Study of the pressure shadow around Quartz and feldspars showed that the δ and σ Mica fish fabrics and C-S sense of movement is dextral to north-west. The breccia zones are ductile. Three types of veins are ±visible in the area. They are from old to young: 1-premilonitization veins including Quartz sulfide. 2- synbrecciation veins which have brecciated Quartz 3- post brecciation veins which are shear zones. mainly filled by Calcite and are cut and moved by brittle- ductile
