- Introduction - Exploration projects in north and center of Khorasan province - Exploration projects in south of Khorasan province
Introduction Khorasan province has many potentialities in mining because of its different geological characteristics. Exploration programs of mine and Industry Ministry, exploration activities of GSI and private companies' investments in Khorasan province has led to economic development in recent years. Regional explorations have been nearly completed and now subjective explorations, semi- comprehensive and comprehensive exploration projects are being done. Geochemical exploration have been done in 35000 square kilometres in south of Khorasan, 7500 square kilometres in Torbate-Jam area, 1000 square kilometres in Sabzevar area, 30000 square kilometres between Torbate-Hydareyeh, Kashmar and Bardaskan, all together more than 82500 square kilometres have been covered by geochemical exploration in Khorasan province in ten last year. The cover of geological maps in 1/100000 scale from 20% in 1990 has increased to 45%. The geochemical exploration and geological maps are resulted to recognition of many hopeful areas, which exploration activities have been focused on these areas and have led to definition of semi-comprehensive and comprehensive exploration projects.
Geology Research Center in Mashhad
In parallel to geology- exploration vary activities and with regards to importance of the research and training expert staffs, the biggest geological research centre have been founded in 17000 square meters land with more than 5000 meters building. This centre was suggested and approved in 2000 and put up the building started in mid 2000. This centre is aimed to attract specialist in geosciences and be a centre for training of high quality experts. Fortunately in last 3 years more than 100% building and equipments have been completed based on suggested plan. We hope this centre would be useful on development program in Khorasan province.
