Abstract :
In 1989, a group of geologists from the Geological survey of Iran, studying the Makran region (Makrar
. Project) south of latitude 26 N., found vertebrate remains of a large cetacean (whale) in many deposits
The location of this discovery is situated 10 Kms south of the town of Negur, within the Chabahai .administrative region
Many samples taken from the many deposits surrounding the cetacean vertebrates have shown e relatively rich calcareous nannofossil (calcaneous nannoplankton) fauna. These are seen to correspond with zone NNII or Discoaster quinqueramus Gartner (1969) zone of the Martini Standard Zonation (1971). This zone has e latest Miocene age, situated just below the Miocene- Pliocene boundary and with an absolute age of C.9.O- 7.0 Mi
