Abstract :

The " Bidou group " crops out in the north of Kennan, have various thickness and lithology. About 590 meters of this group was studied in the Fayzabad section, 35Kilometers N.W.of Ravar to determin it's facies and paleoenvironments. The "Bidou group" consists mainly of conglomerate, sandstone, shalefmudstone and limestone. Three fades association are recognized. Facies association 1 consists of interbedded conglomerate and sandstone. Facies association 2 is composed of sandstone and shale/mudstone. Facies association2 is composed of sandstone and shale/mudstone. Facies association 3 consists of limestone, sandstone, shale/ mudstone. Field and laboratory studies indicate that facies association 1 and 2 were deposited in the braided and meandering river environments respectively. Facies associations 3 represents a shallow marine mixed elastic and carbonate environment . The carbonates of facies association 3 include four microfacies group and deposited in the tidal flat, lagoon, ooliticfbioclastic barrier and open marine subenvironments. The sandstone and shale/mudstone of the mixed carbonate- clastic associations are indication of beach to offshore environment. Keywords: Facies, Sedimentary environments, Facies association and Sequences
