Abstract :
This Paper is in regard to the permian sequence of the Abyek- Hiv region. The studied section has been measured near Abyek north- east of Shalamzar and Hiv Villages with approximately 622 m thick that correlate with Dorud, Ruteh, Nessen equivalent and Elikah Formations.
The Dorud Formation consists of conglomerate, red to purple sandstone, siltyshale, quartzite and oncholites limestone at the middle part with 269 m thick. Dorud Formation is divided into 4 subunit with Asselian- Sakmarian in age. This sequence Nonconformably covers the volcanic rock of the basement.
The Ruteh Formation conformably overlain by 332.5 m of grey medium bedded to massive, cherty and cliff forming limestone. Ruteh Formation is divided into 6 subunit with Artinskian- Marghabian in age.
The Ruteh Formation is covered with a Laterite- boxite horizon and Cherty, marly, shaly limestone of the Nessen equivalent Formation with 20.5 m thick.
The Nessen equivalent Formation is divided into 2 Subunit and the indexfauna of this sequence showd an Early Djulfian in age. These are Disconformably overlain with distinct tJthology, light grey platey, slaty limestone, and dolomitic limestone Elikah Formation with dana beds and Vermicular limeston bearing. Five biozones are established in the permian System in this region.
