Abstract :
The Caspian Sea is an international Sea,bordered by Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran and Azerbaijan. For a long period, it has experienced declining water levels, averaging about 3 cm a yeas, but this has recently seen a sudden and dramatic reversal with damaging results along the coastline.
This article, assesses the hydrological regime of the Caspian Sea and the cause of this rise in levels. Evidence is growing daily that changes in Caspian Sea levels are related to global warming and are particularly influenced by differential warming of the oceans in the northern and southern hemispheres.
