Abstract :
Talkheh Rud Is an intermountain basin located wIthin the magmatic archs of Eocene and late TertIary age. Cumulative frequency variations of elements such as Uranium, copper, Molibdinium, Vanadium and Cobalt show that mineralization occurred in the Neogene stratlgraphic sequence of this basin in the region between cities of Tabriz and Ahar.
A strong dependancy between Uranium, Copper, Molibdinlum and Vanadium was observed in the coarse olastic beds in Omidcheh area, Indicating that the sandstone- type Uranium deposits are post depositional and of epigenetic origini- While mineralization in Govarohin Carbonaceous shales had taken place during depositional period and syngenetic In natire.
Uranium and other accompanying metalic elements appear to have been leached out of plutonic and volcanic sources in the vicinity of the basin and subsequently deposited In reducing environment dominated on meandering rivers and deltaic sediments.
