Abstract :
As ostracoda have great value and importance from the viewpoint of ecology and paleoecology, this study focuses on the study of ostracoda in type section of the Abtalkh Formation. The specimens reported here were collected from the Formation, they were prepared and the available ostracoda studied by binocular microscope and scanning electron microscope.
In this study, 12 families, 24 genera, 2 subgenera, 69 species and one subspecies of ostracoda have been recognized.
On the basis of stratigraphical ranges of index species, the upper Coniacian to Maastrichtian ages were proposed for sedimentation in type section of the Abtalkh Formation.
The presence of the genus cytherelloidea, indicates warm climatic conditions during sedimentation of the Formation.
