Abstract :

The study of Jurassic ammonites of Dalichay Formation in the west of Mashhad city (NE of Iran) is the main purposes thesis . The Dalichay Formation and under Lar Formation Lithologically, this formation mainly consist of limestone, marl and marl limestone , with abundant ammonite fossils. The ammonite fauna indicates an age of Bajocian to Oxfordian.
For conducting this research two stratigraphical sections , Farizi and Baghi have been selected and its ammonites fauna have been studied.

750 fossil specimens were collected from the two sections which 700 specimens were ammonite and the others related to the other fossil groups which were classified into 29 genera and 37 species.
Statistically the most fossil specimens related to Reineckeia , Hecticoceras Holcophyioceras , Phyioceras and Sowerbyceras genera , which are representing the age of Middle Callovian.

Based on the collection of known fossils in the studied regions, Earls Callovian - Early Oxfordian age for Farizi section and Middle Bajocian - Early Oxfordian age for Baghi section can be estimated.

The study of microfacies and fossil collection indicates that sedimentation in the studied region have been depositedsedimentary environment.
Meanwhile the existance of the rocks similar facies in North Afghanistan Tagicstan , Turkamanistan and Central Pamir shows that the dominate conditions over the Middle Jurassic sea were complety the same in all
these areas.
