Abstract :

The section being studied is located in NW of Mashhad, ab. 3 km from village ''Ferizi'' between 58° 58' 12" E & 36° 30' 18'' N.
This formation lies conformably beneath formation ''Chaman-Beed'' and unconformably on dark Mashhad phyllitic - slaty collection. The thickness of the above - mentioned section is ab. 300m, which includes an alternation of shale and sandstone: the shale prevails in some parts of the formation, the sandstone in the others. In this palynologic study, the shale part has been considered. So. of the 70 samples taken, 29, related to the shale part were studied and photographed with a microscope after processing. and 29 genera as well as 61. species were recognized. The age of Rhaetian to Bajocian can be suggested on the basis of the studies on this formation.
Depositional environment of the sediments indicates non-marine or continental environment and climate is suggested to be warm - temperate.
