Abstract :

The studied area located at geological map of Ferdows (1:100000) in the northern part of Lut Block. The main purpose of this study is to introduce the geochemical characteristics and genetic models of ore potentials.
The lithostratigraphic sequences in ascending order are: Sardar Formation (shale, sandstone and intercalations of sandy limestone and quartzite), Jamal Formation (gray dolomitic limestone), Cretaceous rock units, Tertiary magmatic rocks, Plio-Quaternary conglomerate and young sediments. Tertiary extrusive rocks are basalts, andesites, trachyandesites, trachytes, dacites, rhyolites and ignimbrites in which the andesites, dacites and rhyolites are more aboundant than the others. Intrusive and subvolcanic bodies include Bejestan granodiorite of Upper Cretaceous age and Lirom microgranite, granophyre in north of Noogh village, quartzmonzodiorite in west of Darzab village and acidic dykes in Dashoo (west of Jazin village) of Late Eocene-Early Oligocene age. The magmatic series of Tertiary igneous rocks set in a calcalkaline site of a continental arc environment. The Tertiary granitic bodies in sheet area are of cordileran I type and are related to a continental margin subduction zone.
Geochemical samplings were designed based on the above geological data. These samples were exactly prepared for analysis by emission spectrometry, poiarography and XRF.
Geochemical data were processed and the related geochemical anomalies were determined by using X+nS and PN methods. Bivariate and multivariate statistical processing was used for paragenetic relationships among the elements.
During the anomaly controlling phase, the geochemical data, heavy mineral results arid other geological aspects were compiled and then suggested the genetic interpretation models.
The integration of all data shows ten promising areas in which only five of them are more important. These promising areas are: District No. 1 in the west of Lirom village, district No. 2 in the around of Sarbastar Mine in the west of the sheet area, district No.3 in Dashoo region and around it, district No.4 in the west of Darzab Village and district No. 5 in the north of Noogh village.
Mineralization in districts No. 1, 2 and 3 are of hydrothermal vein types and include Pb, Zn, Cu, Ag and Au ore parageneses. These ore potentials are hosted by Cretaceous calcareous rocks and formed by ore-fluide deriving from Tertiary intrusive and subvolcanic bodies. In district No. 1 the mineralization of Fe & Mn in Cretaceous calcareous rocks are formed by exhalite-activities.
In district No. 4 the mineralization includes sedimentary-exhalative type in Sardar Formation and Mo-skarn type. The latter, is formed by the emplacement of quartz monzonitic body in Sardar Formation during the Tertiary time.
Mineralization in district No. 5 are formed by fluide derived from a granophyric subvolcanic body of Tertiary age, coresponding to an epithermal gold-type.
