Abstract :
The studied area is situated between Darouneh and Torood, basement faults in Sabzevar zone. Seven groups of kinematic axes were determined from the study of 33 stations, 6 group of which belong to Cenozoic Eon. These strains.
Axes include: 1) NW-SE directed Compression with at Lower Cretaceous up to Upper. Cretaceous time that produced a set of high angle reverse faults (T1). These faults were either reactivated as stilolite surfaces at later compressional phase, or acted as normal faults with development of folding.
2) N-S directed Compression after Eocene time produced one set of conjugate reverse faults (T2a). The Asb-Keshan, Cheshmeh-Zag, Jonaid and Allah-Kom faults belong to this set. The majority of these faults are cut with one set of conjugate strike-slip faults; this phase of deformation is the most important phase in the studied area. Outcrop pattern of Paleocene conglomeratic unit indicates them to be deposited within piggy back basins resulted from T2 faulting. 3) Great number of conjugate NE-SW normal faults that cut ductile structures such as folds and brittle structures such as faults and extension veins, indicate an extension with NW-SE direction. 4) N-S direction Compression produced one set of conjugate E-W reverse faults (T4A). The Yakh-Ab fault, Noor, Payghambar and Gharibeh thrust belong to these set. These deformations continued with formation of one set of conjugate strike-slip faults (T4b). 5) NE-SW directed Compression after Miocene and before Pliocene time that produced one set of conjugate NE SW faults (T5a). It appears that Khartoran and Derazo faults have been formed at this phase. These structures are displaced with one set of conjugate strike-slip faults (T5b). 6) NE-SW directed Extension at that to produced one set of conjugate normal faults and extension veins (t6). 7) NE-SW directed Compression at Plio-Pleistocene age that produced one set of conjugate reverse faults (T7). The study of geomorphological features of this phase is important in understanding of active tectonics of the region. During kinematic development of studied area, most of older faults were reactivated at later phases, for example, one set of sinstral strike-slip faults that formed at T2b, were reactivated as dextral strike-slip faults at T4b. Considering the effect of buried unknown structures and strain partitioning, it is too difficult to relate calculated kinematics with Larger scale tectonic movements. These kinematic study of the study area is just only compared with rotation of Central Iran microplate.
