Abstract :
Kuh Zar (study area) is located 40 Km west of Torbet Hydarieh and about 5 Km south of Fadiheh. The study area is part of Tertiary volcanic plutonic belt north of Daruneh fault.
Volcanic rocks are mainly intermediate to acid pyroclastic type. They formed during early tertiary time. Calc-alkaline granodiorite-monzonite-synogranite are intruded some time in mid-tertiary time.
Mineralization is mainly control by fault system. Several mineralized faults are being discovered. Open space filling features are abundant. In central Kuh Zar, stockwork mineralization is abundant. The main minerals are: quartz, hematite (specularite), gold, barite, siderite, and in some areas some sulfides such as pyrite and chalcopyrite are noticed. Ancient working is present in the area. Chloritic and silicification are the main alteration types. Minor argillic is found in some areas. Stream sediment geochemical study show a very broad and high level of gold anomaly. Rock geochemical show very high level of Fe, Au, W, Ag, Cu, Pb, Zn, Ba, and Mn. Kuh Zar is an Fe-Oxide Cu-Au type deposit. The ore bearing fluid was very oxidizing. The Au ore grade is between 4to 10 ppm.
