Abstract :
Binalood zone, a sinusial mountain ranges with east - east trending located in northwest of Iran. This zone in the eastern most part of Alburz Mountains, is formed thin folded and faulted belt with outcrops Comberian to Devonian, upper Triassic to Lower Cretaceous and Cenozoiec rocks.
Studied sediments are located in the north margin of this zone and formed the last unit of second depositional cycle of Jurassic (Magu group). Two stratigraphic sections of these sediments are measured in Khij and Khorramabad villages, with thickness of them are 230 and 210 meters, respectively. The studied sediments in Khij section are overlying many limestones of Dalichi Formation, while in Khorramabad section Daliohi Formation isnt exposed. The upper boundry of studied sediment is covererd unconfonnity with Quaternary alluvial deposits.
Petrographic analysis of 85 thin sections are led to identification of 4 facies associations including 15 facies:
Fades associations A consist of dismicrite, fossiliferous dismicrite, pel micrite and pel oncomicrosparudite. Facies associations B consist of bio pelmicrite, intraclastic biomicrite, unsorted pel biosparudite, bioclatic intramicrosparudite and bio peisparite. Facies associations C consist of unsorted intraclastic peisparudite, pelintrasparite, bioclastic intrasparite and biolithite. Facies associations D consist of peletiferous biosparite and fossiliferous micrite.
These facies associations are deposited in shallow carbonate platform of ramp
type in tidal flat, restricted lagoon, platform margin with pacth reefs and shallow open marine, respectively.
Lithostratigraphic and facies correlations of studied sections with Lar and Mozduran Formations, show that this sediment can be equivalent to Lar Formation in Eastern Alburz.
Paleontology studies in Khorramabad section with high abundance and diversity fossil led to identifical of two bentic foraminifera and calcareous green algea associations. Based on 5 genus and 11 species of bentic foraminifera as well as 2 genus and 3 species of green calcareous algae, Oxfordian - Lower Berriasian age is proposed for Khorraxnabad section.
While because of upper part erotion of studied sediment in khij section, Oxfordian - Kimmeridjian age probably proposed.
At last, based on vertical and lateral facies changes, paleogeography of study area are interpreted during four stages.
