Abstract :
The region under study is situated in the western part of the ophiolite zone of
Sabzevar which has been formed during the lower Cretaceous.
The main geological structure of the region comprises , beside ophiolite complex Eocen volcanic rocks and Quateriiary sediments.
Dunite and harzburgite are the most frequent ultrabasic rocks of the ophiolit
complex The mineralization in this region can generally be divided into thre
phases
1- Mineralization during the formation of the oceanic crust : In this phas
the refractory elements , such as chromium and nickel are concentrated under
the effect of partly melting and chromite can be found as lenses inside dunit
rocks.
2- Mineralization under the effect of subduction : The hydrothermal
solutions formed in association with volcanic rocks of the region have leached
manganes , cobalt and copper out of the basic and ultrabasic rocks , theti
deposited them in the5econd form in the empty spaces by modification of the
physicochemical conditions.
3- Mineralization after the establishment of ophiolites In this phase someminerals like magnesite , talc and5!vpentine are formed due to alterationThese minerals are not of economic interest.
