Abstract :
The study area is located between 59, 50 to 60, 5 eastern longitudes and 35, 25 to 35, 35 northern latitude. The area is located in the south-east of Mashhad and east of Fariman, and is part of the Iran-Markazi zone. Metamorphic rocks and granitoid bodies are exposed in this area.
Granitoid bodies of this area are of two major bodies with composition granite and some minor bodies that their composition varies from granodiorite to alkali-granite. All of these granitoides are of orogenic type and belong to the Syn-Collision Granitoides (CCG).
The metamorphic rocks of this area have various mineral assemblages and indicate that their protolith is pelitic, carbonate, and quartz-feldespatic.
Mineral assemblages and matrix-porphyroblast relationship show that these rocks in addition to the contact metamorphism resulted by granitoid plutons are affected by regional metamorphism.
Mineral such as garnet, biotite, muscovite, andalusite, cordierite and sillimanite are visible in pelitic rocks.? Based on these index minerals, metamorphic zones are differentiated.
Maximum of regional metamorphism is in the limit of amphibolites facies (andalusite zone in pelitic rocks).
Contact metamorphism is of low pressure intermediate group (Buchan type) and the degree of this metamorphic is in the limit of hornblende hornfels and pyroxene hornfels.
Granitoid bodies emplacement has occurred following the later regional metamorphism, eliminated the regional trace in their host rocks and provide aureole that include andalusite, cordierite, sillimanite and upper sillimanite zones.
Pressure during this contact metamorphism determined to be less than 4 Kb and temperature between 400-600oC.
