Abstract :
The cretaceous rock units at Kopeh-Dagh and Central Iran basins have some similarities in their lithofacies and biofacies contents.
Among the Cretaceous formations at Kopeb-Dagh basin, the Sanganeh (Late Aptian-Albian) and Aitamir (Late Albian-Cenomanian) formations, have considered and compared with Beudanticeras shale (Albian) and Glauconitic limestone at Central Iran basin.
Study of them, show some similarity between two mentioned basins and indicate the sea that covered these basins was deeper at Albian age and caused to deposite dark gray shales with ammonites like Sanganeh formation at Kopeh-Dagh basin and Beudanticeras shale at Central Iran basin.
At Late Albian the regression of sea level (resulting of Austrian event) caused to deposite detritic sediments like Aitamir's Glauconoitic sandstones at Kopeh-Dagh basin and Glauconitic limestone at Central Iran basin.
Also, as a result of Austrian event, an unconformity can be recognized between Aitamir and Sanganeh formations at Kopeh-Dagh basin.
