Abstract :
Dasht-e- Bayaz seismic region is a part of the Lut block. The region is known as a high potential seismic region, with several major active faults. The mechanisms of faults are mainly left lateral strike slip with E_W direction. The land forms and drainage pattern of the region formed in the Quaternary period. Early Quaternary deposits of the studied area, espcially in the northern part and near Khezri-Dashte Bayaz suffered deformation and uplifting.
Hypsometric integral values of the basins, demonstrate that basins of northern of Dashte_ bayaz fault have high values. Also on Khidbas segment, values of hypsometric integral are higher than Nimblook segment.
Sinuosity index of mountain frontal show that Northern part of mountain frontal of the Dashte_Bayaz is more active than Southern part. In addition, it is believed that Khidbas segment of the Dashte_bayaz fault is more active than Nimblook segment. Tilting Index of drainage basins and values of tilting percentage show that all of the north drainage basins of the Dashte_bayaz fault are tilted. This confirms that north drainage basins of Dashte_bayaz fault are displaced by strike slip faults of the region. On the basis of stream-gradient (SL) in which the locations of anomalies are accordance to knick points indicating tectonic activities and existence of faults. Interpretation of satellite Images (ETM) show the multiple activity of this fault from past to the recent. For example 450 meters left_lateral displacements of river in khidbas block are measured. In addition location of old Qantas in aerial photographs show that after each activity of fault, location of new Qantas in lower part of fault line has moved to the left side. This evidence confirms the left lateral component of fault. GPS scarp profile display about 6 meters vertical displacement in the West and East of the Dashtebayaz village. Beyond the Dashtebayaz village, vertical displacement increase. On Khidbas segment, Values of vertical displacement is higher than Nimblook segment. Maximum vertical displacement of Khidbas segment is almost 90 meters. Meantime the variation curve of vertical displacement show convex shape and decreases from center part towards both terminal sides.
